Dec 1, 2009 deadline for CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR National Military Intelligence Foundation Scholarship Competition, short competition for scholarship support for FT and PT students pursuing either undergraduate, graduate, or professional degrees in intelligence studies and related fields. We hope to award 3 scholarships valued at $2000 for part time students and 3 scholarships valued at $3000 each for full time students to be applied to the 2009-2010 academic year.

Dec 3, 2009 deadline Strengthening Women’s Organizations and Political Representation in the Middle East and North Africa. The State Department’s Office of the Middle East Partnership Initiative (NEA/PI) requests proposals to strengthen women’s participation in all aspects of society and promote women’s equality in the Middle East and North Africa. The following MENA countries may be proposed: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, and Yemen. NEA/PI seeks applications to address the following two priority areas: 1) Organizational Capacity Building for Women’s Organizations to strengthen women-run or -focused civil society organizations in the MENA region. 2) Development of Women’s Caucuses and Unions to build platforms for and connect female political activists through the development of women’s caucuses and unions – nationally and regionally.

Jan 8, 2010 deadline CASA II: The CASA II program aims to provide further opportunities for CASA fellows, who have completed the CASA Full-Year program within the past five years, to continue to enhance their language skills and advance their Arabic-based research in Egypt.

Jan 8, 2010 deadline CASA III: offers fellowships for professors whose specialties focus on any aspect of the Arab World/Middle East. The CASA III fellowships are funded by the Fulbright Binational Committee in Egypt and the US Department of Education and are intended for professors who are interested in further advancing their proficiency in Arabic and for those who wish to undertake research in Arabic materials under the supervision of a specialist.

Jan 15, 2010 (target date) NSF Research Grants, DLS supports fundamental research that increases our understanding of cognitive, linguistic, social, cultural, and biological processes related to children's and adolescents' development and learning. Research supported by this program will add to our basic knowledge of how people learn and the underlying developmental processes that support learning, with the objective of leading to better educated children and adolescents who grow up to take productive roles as workers and as citizens.
